A goal and two assists from Justin Valentino led the Swan Valley Stampeders to a 6-4 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Wednesday in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
In Wednesday’s other MJHL games, it was: Winnipeg Blues 5, Neepawa Natives 3; Portage Terriers 4, Winkler Flyers 3; and Steinbach Pistons 3, Selkirk Steelers 2.
At Swan River, Virden native Landon Peel had two assists for the Stampeders (15-8-2). Brett Lafond had a goal and an assist for the Wolverines (9-11-2). Brandonite Riley Feser stopped 55 of 60 shots for Wayway.
The Stampeders also made a trade, sending 20-year-old forward T.J. Fairall, who had 29 goals in 2011-12 but had yet to score this season, to the Flyers for the list rights to prospects Ezra Hall, 16, and Garrett Armour, 15.
Blues 5 Natives 3
At Neepawa, Warren Callis and Kurt Keats paced the Blues (17-7-0) with a goal and an assist each.
Landon Thompson of MacGregor, Drake Lindsay and Dylan MacNab replied for the Natives (5-15-2), who got two assists from Brandonite Brayden Cuthbert.
Terriers 4 Flyers 3
At Portage la Prairie, Isaac Jay, Bryce Lipinski, Regan Stire and Zack Woldvogel scored in a span of 7:03 in the last half of the first period for the Terriers (11-8-1).
Brandonite Tanner Jago had opened the scoring Flyers (7-11-6) only 34 seconds before Jay got the Terriers rolling.
Pistons 3 Steelers 2
At Steinbach, Dan Taillefer and Justin Augert had a goal and an assist each for the Pistons (10-12-1).
Mackenzie Johnson and Erik Pushka scored for the Steelers (12-11-2).
