Van Lankvelt's big night wasted

Rivers’ Toon Van Lankvelt had 12 kills, three aces and a block for the Canadian men’s volleyball team on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough as it fell 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 19-17) to Argentina in the Pan American Cup round robin in Mexico.

Dallas Soonias led Canada (0-2) with 25 kills, while Rodrigo Villalba had 17 for Argentina (2-0). The loss put Canada, which is playing without many of its regular starters, including Brandonite Dustin Schneider, at the bottom of its pool. Canada will play for seventh place on Friday.
