Matt Bryant and Austin Moar both scored first-half tries for the Vincent Massey Vikings as they won their Westman High School Rugby boys’ game 10-7 over the Swan Valley Tigers on Friday in Swan River.
The Vikings (3-2) held a 10-0 lead at the half before the Colbe Oakes scored a try in the second half and Baile Oakes added the conversion for the Tigers (2-3), but that’s as close as Swan Valley came.
In Friday’s other boys’ game, it was: Souris Sabres 29, Minnedosa Chancellors 10. In the girls’ games, it was: Tigers 31, Vikings 5; and Sabres 41, Chancellors 5.
Sabres 29 Chancellors 10
At John Reilly Field, Brendan Roberts scored one try and two converts for the Sabres (5-0), while Zach Miner added a try and a penalty kick.
Nathan Greig, Michael Fortin and Michael Gohl also touched the ball down for Souris.
Blake Marchischuk supplied the try for Minnedosa (3-1), which trailed 12-10 at the half, while Justin McKinnon kicked a convert and a penalty.
Tigers 31 Vikings 5
At Swan River, Marlee Clarkson and Brooke Mosiondz both scored a pair of tries for the Tigers (3-2).
Lane Mychalchuk added a try and a conversion and Samantha Burnett kicked a pair of converts for Swan Valley.
Brittany Boschman scored the try for Massey (2-3).
Sabres 41 Chancellors 5
At John Reilly Field, Charlotte West scored a try and kicked three converts to lead Souris.
Kirsten Kirkpatrick added a pair of tries as the Sabres (5-0) won a battle of undefeated teams that hadn’t given up a point all season.
Shannon Brady, Emma Boisvert, Kendra Roberts and Kaylee Butterfield also had tries for Souris.
Sydney Ingenmey had the try for Minnedosa (3-1).
