The Vincent Massey Vikings used home-court advantage to sweep a pair of games from the Neelin Spartans in Westman High School Basketball League action on Tuesday night.
Zaina Bird scored 14 points to spark the Vikings to a 45-43 victory over the Spartans in the varsity girls’ game to open the night. Johnson Duku and Igor Reva then added 16 points apiece to lead Vincent Massey to a 68-50 victory over Neelin in the varsity boys’ game to cap the evening.
In the opener, Alison Cruise notched eight points for the Vikings, while Paige Thomson replied with a game-high 16 points to pace the visiting Spartans. Kristine Ward added 12 points for Neelin. Both teams will take part in the Crocus Plainsmen’s Java Jam girls’ tournament that begins on Thursday.
In the boys’ game, Brock Hiltner matched Duku and Reva with a 16-point performance for the Spartans, while Quinton Hunter contributed eight points in a losing cause for Neelin.
