Volunteers honoured

Kevin Neufeld, Sandy Donald and Mark Dabbs will be recognized by the Brandon Sport Alliance during the Brandon Wheat Kings’ home game on Wednesday night.

Neufeld, who guided the Neelin Spartans to a provincial AAAA high school varsity girls’ volleyball title, will receive the Outstanding Coach Award. Donald, who stepped up as the president of Rugby Manitoba, will receive the Outstanding Administrator Award. Dabbs will receive the Outstanding Volunteer Award.

The BSA will also hold its next Coaching Academy session on the National Coaching Certification Program mental training program on March 19 at the Louis Riel Room in Brandon University’s McMaster Hall.

Instructor Guy McKim will help people at the session recognize signs that an athlete needs to improve on goal setting, focus and anxiety control, as well as developing an action plan to help athletes.

Coaches, parents, volunteers, team management and athletes who are interested in attending the clinic, which runs from 7-10 p.m., can register by calling 204-726-6072 or online at brandonsportalliance.ca.
