Warriors stun Bears

Brandon’s Paul Bonar and the Waterloo Warriors are one win away from playing for the University Cup.

The Warriors got a 42 save effort from Keaton Hartigan as they upset the top-ranked Alberta Golden Bears 2-1 at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men’s hockey championship tournament in Saskatoon on Thursday. Justin Larson and Blake Chartier scored for Waterloo. Bonar, a 22-year-old defenceman, was held off the scoresheet.

The Warriors will play the St. Mary’s Huskies on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (Sportsnet West) to wrap up their round-robin play.
