Watson works five solid innings for MB

Westman’s only player on Manitoba’s entry at the national midget baseball championship got some time on the mound as the squad went 1-1 during the first day of competition on Thursday.

Glenboro’s Bryce Watson pitched five innings in relief of starter Ben Onyshko and gave up one run on three hits, striking out three, in Manitoba’s 7-4 loss to New Brunswick. The team bounced back with a 3-2 win over Newfoundland.

Manitoba continues preliminary round play against Saskatchewan and Ontario today.
