Waywayseecappo wins again

Russell Turner scored the tying and winning goals in the final four minutes to give the Waywayseecappo Wolverines a 4-3 victory over the host Dauphin Kings in Manitoba Junior Hockey League playoff action on Tuesday night.

Turner’s game-winner — completing a four-point performance — came with 1:14 remaining and gave the Wolverines a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven division semifinal series heading to Waywayseecappo for Game 4 tonight at 7:30.

Pilot Mound’s Brett Pinkerton and Kyle Threndyle also scored for the Wolverines, who finished fourth in the Sher-Wood Division, 41 points back of the Kings. Former Brandon Wheat King Ryley Miller, Daulton Siwak and Jeff Archibald scored for Dauphin, while Souris native Tanner Butler drew an assist.

Brenden Fiebelkorn made 31 saves for the victory, while Jeremy Pominville stopped 29 shots for Dauphin.
