The Westman Volleyball Club won gold at the Virden 14U girls club volleyball tournament on the weekend.
Westman beat the Prairie Fire Ignite 25-17, 25-18 in the championship final as Brynn Pedlow had eight kills and Kaylynn Collyer served up five aces. Westman defeated the host Virden team 2-1 in the semifinals, winning 15-5 in the decisive set, after beating the ACC Cougars club team 2-0 in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, the 15U girls Westman Volleyball Club team finished second at a tournament in Winnipeg on the weekend. Westman fell 2-1 (25-26, 16-25, 16-14) in the final to the Selkirk Royals. Westman reached the championship game by beating the Winnipeg Wesmen 2-1 (16-25, 25-21, 15-7) in the semifinals and the host Fury 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) in a quarter-final.
