Samantha Rimke’s Virden Golden Bear girls’ team reached the A-event and B-event semifinals at the provincial high school curling championships in Rivers and Minnedosa, but couldn’t get any further.
Rimke’s team of Krista Grieve, Meaghan Kyle and Sonya Laroque fell 5-2 to Morden in Saturday’s B-event semifinal, eliminating them from provincials.
Virden reached the semifinals by topping Dauphin’s Hanne Jensen 10-3 in the quarter-finals.
Carberry’s Dori Vince also fell in the quarter-finals, losing 8-2 to eventual provincial champions Jeanne Sauve.
In the boys’ side of the draw, Taylor Schettler’s team representing William Morton in Gladstone reached the B-event semifinals before falling 8-3 to Sanford.
Jake Kitto’s Virden foursome fell 8-6 to Springfield in the B-event quarter-finals.
Swan Valley’s team skipped by Carter Watkins beat Sanford 6-5 in the A-B final to win the provincial title.
