Three Westman players have been invited to the Canadian women’s hockey team’s strength and conditioning camp from May 2-6 in Toronto.
Brandonite Ashleigh Brykaliuk, Neepawa’s Halli Krzyzaniak and Bruxelles’ Cassidy Carels were selected to take part in the event.
Brykaliuk, a 16-year-old centre at Winnipeg’s Balmoral Hall Prep School, and Krzyzaniak, a 17-year-old defenceman with the Pursuit of Excellence program based in Kelowna, B.C., were both members of Canada’s team that won gold at the world under-18 championship in the Czech Republic in January. Meanwhile, Carels, a 17-year-old forward, is currently playing for the Pembina Valley Hawks in the Esso Cup Canadian Midget Girls Championship in Charlottetown.
The roster includes nine goaltenders, 20 defencemen and 28 forwards.
