Kent Wheaton threw a no-hitter and struck out 15 batters on Sunday to lead the Souris Cardinals to a 7-0 win over the visiting Melita Beavers in the South West Baseball League.
Elsewhere, it was: Wawanesa Brewers 5, Elkhorn Expos 0; and Deloraine Royals 8, Reston Jays 2.
In Souris, Wheaton threw a complete game, allowing two runners on base via a walk and by hitting a batter. Brock Anderson hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs for Souris, while Andrew Janz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Branden Ripley went the distance for Melita and was charged with the loss.
Brewers 5 Expos 0
In Elkhorn, Brad Roth went 2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs for Wawanesa. He also scattered five hits and struck out five in four innings to pick up the win. Bradley Bowles gave up three runs in four innings to take the loss for Elkhorn.
Royals 8 Jays 2
In Reston, David Hodgson threw a complete game four-hitter and struck out 11 to earn the win for the Royals, while Ryan Crepeele had an RBI.
