Clark Whelpton threw a complete game two-hitter and drove in three runs to lead the Brandon Midget Knights to a 6-0 win over the Cubs in an Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League game on Sunday at Brandon Field.
Whelpton struck out 13 batters and was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double. Bradley Schoonbaert was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and three runs scored.
Ben Van Walleghem took the loss for the Cubs. He gave up seven hits and struck out five in six innings of work.
On Saturday, the Boissevain Centennials swept the Reston Jays in their double-header to close out the South West Baseball League regular season.
Tyler Workman threw a complete-game three hitter and drove in a pair of runs as the Centennials (9-6-1) took the opener 5-0. Jay Pringle also had two RBIs, while Jay Graham crossed home plate twice. Adam Forsyth took the loss for the Jays (3-12-1).
In the second game, Graham scored twice and drove in another run in Boissevain’s 9-2 victory. Dustin Pugh earned the win, while Dean Herbert took the loss.
