Southwest Cougars forward Cameron Whyte’s seven-point weekend has earned him the nod as the Chicken Chef West Division player of the week in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The 17-year-old Virden native scored two goals and set up another in the Cougars’ 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Wild on Saturday and then added a goal and three assists in Southwest’s 5-3 victory over the Kenora Thistles on Sunday. Whyte leads the Cougars and sits ninth overall in league scoring with 18 goals and 46 points.
