Whyte red-hot for surging Cougars

Cameron Whyte factored in the Southwest Cougars’ scoring in four straight games to earn the nod as the Chicken Chef West Division player of the week in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The 17-year-old forward from Virden had two goals and four assists in four games to help the Cougars stretch their winning streak to five games. Whyte now leads the Cougars in scoring with 12 goals and 21 assists this season.

Cougars netminder Tyson Verhelst and Brandon Wheat Kings forward Tyler Coulter were runners-up for the award.
