Wildcats advance to final

Ashton Bell scored one goal and set up the other for the Westman Wildcats on Sunday as they advanced to the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League final with a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Avros on Sunday in Hartney.

Megan Robertson supplied the other marker for the Wildcats, who won their best-of-five semifinal 3-1, while Sky Brown made 35 saves in net. Shyan Elias replied for the Avros.

The Westman will face the winner of the series between the Yellowhead Chiefs and the Pembina Valley Hawks.

The Hawks grabbed a 2-1 lead in that best-of-five semifinal with a 3-2 victory on Sunday in Pilot Mound. Chelsea Dearsley had a goal and an assist for the Hawks, with Kenzie Dearsley and Kelsey Conrad supplying the other Hawk markers.

Jalyn Elmes assisted on Jalin Adams and Kirsten Brown goals for the Chiefs, who will host Game 4 in Shoal Lake on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Late Friday, Sam Geekie scored twice as the Chiefs evened the series with a 2-1 overtime victory.
