Wildcats blank Storm

The Westman Wildcats will try to get a share of first place in their pool in the female division of the Mac’s Midget AAA hockey tournament in Calgary today.

Jaycee Magwood scored a pair of goals and set up another on Sunday and set up another as the Wildcats (2-0-1) earned a 3-0 win over the Peace Country Storm (1-2-0) from Alberta. Ashton Bell netted the other marker for Westman, while Amber Tilbury made 13 saves for the shutout.

On Saturday, Jaedon Cooke scored the Wildcats’ goal in a 1-1 tie with the pool-leading Fraser Valley Phantoms (3-0-1) from British Columbia.

The Wildcats close out the round robin today when they take on the Red Deer (Alta.) Chiefs (0-2-0). A win would give them a share of first place in their pool and a chance to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals.
