Wolverines revamp roster with deals

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Waywayseecappo Wolverines have made a pair of trades, shipping out a forward and bringing in a defenceman.

Drake Bodie was sent to the Portage Terriers to complete an October deal that brought goalie Mitch Wiebe to Waywayseecappo. Bodie, 18, was tied for the Wolverines’ scoring lead with 26 points, including 11 goals, in 33 games.

The Wolverines, who are last in the MJHL’s overall standings at 10-22-2, added Sean Whelan, 19, from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers in exchange for future considerations. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenceman had eight assists and eight penalty minutes in 31 games with the Bombers.

The Wolverines return from their Christmas break with a road game against the OCN Blizzard tonight.
