The Westman Wolverines thought they were playing well in their Manitoba Major Football League game against the host East Side Eagles on Saturday, and then they kicked off the second half.
The Wolverines (2-2), who trailed 11-0 at the break, had the kickoff returned for a touchdown and things went downhill after that as they fell 34-0 to the Eagles (3-0).
Shayne Sebree led Westman’s ground attack with 19 rushes for 121 yards. Seth Hume was 3-for-11 in the air for 60 yards, which included a 45-yards connection with James Johnson. T.J. Simpson had six tackles and one sack for the Wolverines, while Jessie Smith had four tackles and one interception. Cole Easter also had four tackles in the game.
Westman has a bye this week and will return to the gridiron on Sept. 14 to visit the Fort Garry Lions (1-0).
