Young Guns' McNish fans 12

Dana McNish struck out 12 batters while going the distance on the mound for the Joe Beeverz Young Guns as they tied the Midget Knights 5-5 in the Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League on Wednesday at Brandon Field.

Sean Martin drove in a pair of runs for the Young Guns, while Jordan Robertson scored twice for the Knights.

SOUTH WEST:

Jeff Edwards threw a complete game for the host Deloraine Royals on Wednesday night as they beat the Hartney Hoppers 9-4 in the South West Baseball League.

Scott McBrien took the loss.

Meanwhile, the Elkhorn Expos beat the host Melita Beavers 13-1.

PLAYER OF WEEK:

Expos slugger Brett Orr has been named the Pringles Sports Excellence player of the week in the South West Baseball League.

Orr went 5-for-7 with two runs scored and one RBI to help the Expos win a pair of games to improve to second place in the league.

Jeff Knight of the Hamiota Red Sox was the player of the week for June 23-29. He cranked two home runs in three games — including his league-leading fourth of the season — and had five hits in total to help the Red Sox win three straight games.

SANTA CLARA:

Dylan Donald went 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Austin A’s as they beat the visiting Carberry Royals 9-6 on Wednesday night in the Santa Clara Baseball League.

Jared Giesbrecht earned the win for Austin, while Scott Witherspoon took the loss for Carberry. Phil Wells went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for the Royals.
