Zamrykut lifts Marlins

Eric Zamrykut went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs as the Brandon Marlins moved within three points of the Manitoba Senior Baseball League-leading Brandon Cloverleafs with an 11-2 win over the Reston Rockets on Thursday evening at Andrews Field.

Nolan Jago, Matt DeGagne and Ty Webber all scored twice, while Paul Thompson added a trio of RBIs for the Marlins (12-4-1), who exploded for all of their runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Bret Heselwood and Dustin Asham drove in a pair of runs as well for Brandon.

Jesse Goertzen held the Rockets (4-10-1) to a pair of runs on seven hits over eight innings to pick up the win. Zane Sawyer scored a run and drove in the other for the Rockets. He also took the loss on the mound after being charged with six runs and 10 hits in five innings.
