Frenzel wins Nordic combined event and wins overall title ahead of Jason Lamy Chappuis

OSLO - Eric Frenzel won the Nordic combined World Cup title Friday, winning a race for the sixth time this season.

The German outsprinted Akiro Watabe of Japan in the 10-kilometre cross-country portion of the race to win and increase his season total to 954 points. Defending champion Jason Lamy Chappuis of France is second with 718.

Frenzel also recently won a world championship gold medal in Val de Fiemme, Italy.

Frenzel was second in the ski jump and went out eight seconds behind leader Yoshito Watabe of Japan, who finished third. Lamy Chappuis finished fourth.
