Italy's most capped player, Andrea Lo Cicero, announces retirement from international rugby

ROME - Italy's most capped player, Andrea Lo Cicero, will retire from international rugby after Saturday's final Six Nations match against Ireland.

The 36-year-old prop says his 103rd appearance will be his last for Italy.

At a news conference with captain Sergio Parisse on Friday, Lo Cicero says, "I would have liked to play my fifth Rugby World Cup in 2015, but I will be 39 ... it's time to leave space for the youngsters."

Lo Cicero tied with retired former teammate Alessandro Troncon on 101 caps last month against Wales, before setting a new record against England last weekend.

The Racing Metro veteran adds he will quit playing at the end of the season but will continue training for two years in case a club wants to use him as a "medical joker."
