Branca Ilic, Nikos Korovessis score as Giannena beats Aris 2-0 to rise to 5th in Greek league

ATHENS, Greece - Branca Ilic scored in the first half and Nikos Korovessis added another goal in the second to give Giannena a 2-0 victory over visiting Aris in the Greek league on Saturday.

The victory allowed Giannena to provisionally reclaim fifth place, three points ahead of Panathinaikos — which plays at second-place PAOK on Sunday — and 28 points behind leader Olympiakos, which plays at last-place Kerkyra. Aris is second-to-last. It hit the goal-frame three times on Saturday.

Teams that finish the regular season from second to fifth place will play in home-and-away playoffs, with the winner joining the champion in next season's Champions League.

Also Saturday, Levadiakos and OFI drew 1-1 and AEK Athens beat Veria 2-1.
