The Brandon Wheat Kings will be without veteran forward Jason Swyripa for the forseeable future.
The 19-year-old from Calgary has been lost indefinitely with a wrist injury suffered in Tuesday’s 7-6 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Swyripa, in his third Western Hockey League season, has played on the Wheat Kings’ top two lines throughout the club’s first 10 games, scoring two goals and setting up three others, with a plus/minus of +2 and six penalty minutes. Swyripa hadn’t registered a point in his last seven games. The Wheat Kings said in a news release that Swyripa would receive further tests today in Calgary.
The club has five games left on its West Coast road trip, with the next one coming Saturday night against the Kelowna Rockets.
