The WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings headed west Monday with one less player on the bus.
The Wheat Kings assigned 17-year-old centre Quintin Lisoway of Neepawa to the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, leaving 24 players on the roster — two goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Lisoway, a 2010 ninth-round bantam draft pick, had one assist in three regular-season games for the Wheat Kings this season.
The Wheat Kings (5-3-1-0) begin a seven-game, two-week road trip that will take them all the way to the West Coast, with the first game tonight in Medicine Hat, Alta., (7:30, CKLQ pre-game show), followed by a stop in Lethbridge, Alta., on Wednesday (7:30 p.m., CKLQ pre-game).
Brandon wrapped up a four-game home stand with a 1-2-1-0 record on Saturday night following a 4-3 loss to the Tri-City Americans.
