Mary Jo Eustace channels painful breakup into new book, makeover series
TORONTO - Mary Jo Eustace, who was famously dumped by her husband for tabloid staple Tori Spelling, says she's channelling her own reinvention into a proposed makeover show for the W Network.
The Toronto personality, best known for her campy cooking show "He Said, She Said With Ken and Mary Jo," says she begins shooting a pilot called "Second Act" in Toronto at the end of the month.
Eustace says the series would help men and women that are in a rut, whether it be financial, physical, or emotional.
She says she will host and draw lessons from her own painful breakup to steer people into a new direction.
Eustace's split with actor Dean McDermott in 2005 was played out on infotainment shows, gossip blogs and tabloid covers.
But the 46-year-old says she's since been able to move on with her life.
She also weaves tidbits of her emotional turmoil into a new self-help book called, "Divorce Sucks: What to do When Irreconcilable Differences, Lawyer Fees and Your Ex's Hollywood Wife Make You Miserable."
While not quite serving as a tell-all, the book details agonizing moments including McDermott's announcement that he had fallen in love with his younger co-star, Spelling, and was leaving Eustace.
The blow came just weeks after the pair adopted a baby girl, Lola.
Roughly six months later, Eustace and McDermott were divorced. About six months after that, McDermott married Spelling.
McDermott and Spelling have their own reality show, "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood," also featuring their two young children, on Slice.
