BREAKING NEWS - Wild police chase north of Dauphin

On Saturday afternoon, the Winnipegosis and Dauphin RCMP were involved in the pursuit of a suspected impaired driver that ended with the suspect vehicle being stopped with the use of spike belts.

The vehicle, a black four-door sedan, had earlier been reported as hitting a light standard in Winnipegosis.

The vehicle was located by police 20 kilometres north of Dauphin on Highway 20 and would not stop for police until it was disabled with the use of two spike belts.

The pursuit lasted approximately 60 kilometres over two Rural Municipalities and reached speeds of 100 km/h.

After successfully stopping the vehicle police discovered that the front seat passenger was a seven-year-old child.

The driver faces several charges.There were no injuries.
