Four extremely talented Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra horn players were showcased on Jan. 19 at the Westman Manitoba Centennial Auditorium.
Patricia Evans, Kenneth MacDonald, Caroline Oberheu, and Michiko Singh are known for creating compelling harmonic textures, at times rising from the background for brief, colourful melodic interjections.
In Robert Schumann’s Konzertstück for Four Horns and Orchestra, they were at the heart of the musical action.
The next Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra concert in Brandon will be on March 16 at 3 p.m. and will feature guest violinist Augustin Hadelich in Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor.
As well, soprano Valdine Anderson will join the ensemble for Mahler’s "Symphony No. 4." For tickets call the WMCA at 204-728-9510.
