Couple jailed for luggage thefts after Asiana Airlines crash

SAN FRANCISCO - An airline employee and his wife have been sentenced to jail time for stealing the luggage of passengers who were diverted after the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco last year.

San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Jonathan Karesh sentenced 44-year-old Sean Crudup, a former United Airlines customer service representative, to nine months in county jail.

Crudup's wife, 32-year-old Raychas Thomas, was sentenced to six months in county jail.

Crudup and Thomas both pleaded no contest to grand theft and possession of stolen property in March after surveillance footage showed Crudup handing bags to Thomas and another person on July 8.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the couple were also both sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay about $5,800 in restitution to victims.
