Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 10/12/2012 (4930 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Starting today, Brandon Transit passengers will be introduced to the new Autofare system on all regular bus routes.
Riders will now use a smart card instead of previous transit passes or tickets in the city. The card will replace all monthly passes and ticket books.
All passes or paper tickets purchased for December will be honoured within the city until the end of the year.
“Our dedicated Transportation Services staff, including bus operators and mechanics, has been working tirelessly to ensure that this transition will occur as seamlessly as possible.” states Timothy Sanderson, Director of Transportation Services for the City of Brandon. “We are also asking everyone to understand and exercise patience as it may take a few days for our passengers and staff to become proficient in using this new system.”
However pennies will no longer be accepted by those who pay cash on board the bus.
