Hey there, time traveller!

An online candlelight vigil is being held tonight to honour those killed by overdose poisoning or substance use.
The Brandon and Area Overdose Awareness group is partnering with Manitoba Harm Reduction Network to host the event, which is being livestreamed for half an hour beginning at 7 p.m.
The livestream can be found on the Brandon and Area Overdose Awareness group’s namesake Facebook page.
The event is about “love, care and compassion,” said group representative Antoinette Gravel-Ouellette.
“It’s about bringing about awareness around overdose poisonings, but also to give a voice to reducing stigma related to substance use disorder.”
Stigma, she said, stops people from getting they help they need.
This is the organization’s first attempt at an online candlelight vigil, so Gravel-Ouellette said it’s unclear how many people will turn out, but that those who do will find a supportive environment.
Those in difficulty will have a Manitoba Harm Reduction Network representative to chat with, and the overall vibe is expected to be of support and love.
Gravel-Ouellette will introduce the topic at the start of the half-hour event, and then livestream an image of her purple candle burning next to a Christmas tree.
People will be able to chat with one another as well as send photos of their own candles throughout the event.
She also knows of some people who will be doing their own candlelight vigil at home, disconnected from the online effort but comforted by the fact they’re not alone in doing so at that time.
