Two candidates have put their names forward to become the next reeve of the Rural Municipality of Cornwallis.

Former reeve Bill Courtice and former councillor Mike Waddell were the only candidates to submit forms to the election official by Tuesday’s deadline.

The byelection is Dec. 3.

Courtice was reeve of the municipality from 2018 to 2022, when he was defeated by Sam Hofer in the municipal election. Hofer resigned as reeve in April after he was found to have contravened the Municipal Act, triggering the byelection.

Waddell served one term as Ward 1 councillor between 2014 and 2018.

People can vote on election day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Brandon Hills Church, Sprucewoods Community Hall or the RM office.

They can also vote at an advance poll at the RM office on Nov. 24 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. or Nov. 29 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
