Lawyer, developer, accountant, farmer, John Burgess wears many hats, but today he can call himself the 2006 Brandon Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year. Burgess, who earned the honour at last night’s chamber president’s dinner, was recognized for his years of success as a practising lawyer and partner in Waverly Developments, the consortium that built the Waverly subdivision west of 34th Street and is currently constructing new homes in Brentwood Park, in the city’s extreme southwest.
