A three-foot long "rocket" lying in a Waywayseecappo yard was a spent military shell and harmless, although an army bomb squad blew it up anyway.
The device, which was first unearthed three years ago during yard work, had been sitting around in Bernadette Sumner's yard for over a year. She told the Brandon Sun that police thought it was a joke when she first asked them to check it out, but they took it seriously this week.
An RCMP officer dropped by to take a look at the shell on Wednesday afternoon.
"Then we got worried because he said it looked like something dangerous," Sumner said.
