Teen cyclist hurt in crash

A 13-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital with minimal injuries Monday afternoon after a crash with a vehicle, but police say it was partly as a precaution.

The girl was wearing a bike helmet when the crash happened, at about 1 p.m., near the corner of 18th Street and Louise Avenue.

Police say no charges will be laid in the incident, but they say there are more cyclists on the streets, and both drivers and bikers should be aware of one another.

Police also said that cyclists should avoid high-traffic roadways and should take alternative routes or bike paths.
