Enforcement officials were present at two rallies in Winnipeg and Winkler over the weekend and the Winnipeg Law Courts on Monday. There were 20 tickets issued for a rally at The Forks in Winnipeg on April 25.
Two tickets were issued from a rally in Winkler on May 1 and four tickets from the rally at the Winnipeg Law Courts on May 3. Those fines will be included in next week’s enforcement data, the province said, as they were issued after May 2. Additional charges are expected
A total of 112 warnings and 58 tickets were issued for the week of April 26 to May 2 in the provincial government's weekly update on enforcement measures during the pandemic.
The following is how Tuesday’s enforcement update is broken down:
• 42 $1,296 tickets issue to people for various offences
• 12 $298 tickets to people for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places
• Four $5,000 tickets to businesses
Gatherings in private residences or outdoors made up the bulk of the $1,296 fines at 33 tickets issued and nine tickets issued for failure to isolate.
Commissionaires Manitoba is now greeting all travellers arriving at the Winnipeg International Airport and advising them of the province’s self-isolation requirements.
Since April 2020, a total of 4,008 warnings and 1,294 tickets have been issued resulting in nearly $1.8 million in fines to businesses and individuals.
