MANITOBA musicians and industry professionals have been nominated for 20 Western Canadian Music Awards this year.
The WCMAs are split into artistic and industry categories. A total of 29 individuals and groups got the nod, including Winnipeg singer/songwriter JP Hoe, who earned a double nomination for independent album of the year and pop recording of the year (Mannequin). Hoe’s first official music video, for the single Nothing’s Gonna Harm You, is also up for video of the year.
On the industry side, Gilles Paquin earned a nomination for manager of the year, while his company, Paquin Entertainment, is up for agency of the year.
The West End Cultural Centre and the Park Theatre are both in the running for Western Canada’s live music venue of the year.
The awards will be handed out Oct. 6 in Calgary as part of the BreakOut West weekend. For the complete list of Western Canadian nominees go to breakoutwest.ca.
