Police have tracked down and charged a suspect they originally suspect was repsonsible for trying to break into a Brandon restaurant.

As originally reported last week, early in the morning of Aug. 20, an alarm went off at a restaurant in the 1600-block of Park Avenue. The manager arrived and found that a man was trying to pry open the front doors.

That man fled northward on a bicycle. A possible suspect was checked in the area by police later that morning, but at that time, they weren’t able to tie him to the crime.

Further investigation, however, has identified him as the man allegedly responsible, and police arrested him yesterday.

A 21-year-old Brandon man is to appear on court on Oct. 15, on a charge of attempted break and enter.
