Members of Brandon’s small but growing Bengali community, primarily from Bangladesh and India, gathered Wednesday evening for their first Poush Mela, or Winter Festival, in the Wheat City, at the Central Community Club.

The Bengali community in Brandon consists of approximately 10 to 15 ethnically Bengali families. They connect through a WhatsApp group and hope to attract more Bengali families from other communities in Westman.

Poush Mela consisted of a variety of performances and dinner.
