Man charged with sex offences

A 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on numerous sexual offence charges after he was investigated for allegedly providing methamphetamine to a 15-year-old girl.

On Sunday, police received a report from the girl’s parents that a man had given her meth. The girl’s parents had taken her to hospital for treatment.

Brandon police learned the man and the girl had been talking through Snapchat, a photo-sharing and messaging app, over the past 18 months. The man had brought the girl to his home on several occasions.

The man was charged with luring, sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and administering a noxious substance.

He will appear in court July 20.

Women arrested for breaching peace

Two intoxicated women were taken to police headquarters Wednesday evening after each was involved in separate disturbance issues around town.

The first woman was arrested after police received numerous complaints about an intoxicated woman causing issues wherever she went.

Officers caught up with the 21-year-old woman and lodged her at Brandon Police Service headquarters until sober.

Later that night, police responded to a report of an unwanted intoxicated woman at an apartment building on the 300 block of 10th Street.

Police located and arrested the 22-year-old woman and lodged her at BPS headquarters until sober.
