A 22-year-old woman is in stable condition after being attacked by a group of dogs in Waywayseecappo First Nation on the weekend.

Her clothing was ripped away and she received numerous dog bites.

Police say the woman was able to scream for help and other community members came to her aid and chased away the dogs.
The woman was taken to Russell Health Centre, where she was listed in stable condition on Monday.
Waywayseecappo First Nation Safety Officers and MFNPS went to a residence where three of the dogs responsible for the attack were located. Authorities seized two dogs without incident, but had to put the other dog down.
In a social media post by a man who called himself the 22-year-old victim’s father, photos of the woman’s injuries show extensive cuts and bruising.
“The dogs attacked her and pulled her into the ditch and ripped all her clothes off. She had two pants, two sweaters and her jacket on — they even took her shoes, that’s how brutal the attack was,” the post reads.
No charges were laid, though MFNPS said the incident is still under investigation and are asking the public to provide any information about the attack to investigators.
The Waywayseecappo detachment can be reached at 204-859-5071 or the MFNPS tips line can be reached anonymously at 1-833-978-0048 or via email at TIPS@mfnp.ca.
Waywayseecappo is situated about 150 kilometres northwest of Brandon.
