MCCREARY — Many flags in the small community of McCreary sat at half-mast on Tuesday, four days after the community was rocked by a triple homicide and a related suicide.
A bulletin board outside the local post office had a notice from the office of Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa Conservative MP Dan Mazier saying a planned barbecue this Thursday had been postponed “out of respect for the community during this difficult time.”
At the rural property southwest of McCreary on Provincial Road 462 where the bodies of a 35-year-old man, a 65-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were found last week, there was no longer a police presence and yellow tape surrounding the perimeter had been removed.
A truck and trailer bearing the logo of Parkland Cleaners and Restoration sat outside the house.
The Sun spoke with three people going about their business on McCreary’s main drag under the condition of anonymity.
Two of them confirmed what the resident of a neighbouring farmhouse had told the Sun last week, that two of the homicide victims were Curtis and Rita Rosenkranz. A flower planter on the property where the homicides took place has a sign that says “the Rosenkranz family.”
All three people said the suspect in the killings is Marlon Glover, who also went by the nickname Mano. Two of them said that a photo of a man from a Facebook account by the name of “Mano Glover” was the person they were talking about.
Notices found in the Dauphin Herald newspaper from 2011 and 2013 announced the birth of children to Marlon Glover and a woman believed to be his estranged partner, whose grandparents were Curtis and Rita Rosenkranz of McCreary.
One of the people, a woman from McCreary, said the incident was a shock as Glover was “known as a big teddy bear” in the community. She said he worked in the oilfields, that he was separated from his wife and that the couple were going through a custody issue.
A man who lives in McCreary said it had been “very stressful” in the community since last Friday.
“It is very upsetting for something like this to happen,” he said. “It just kind of never happens here.”
As for Glover, the resident said “he’s never been known for something like that. Just seemed like it came out of the blue.”

Court records indicate that Glover had been charged with failing to comply with court orders, but those charges were stayed in April.
None of the three were aware of any funeral or memorial services having taken place yet.
When the Sun visited the municipal office, staff said Reeve Rick Sonnenberg was out of town for the day and that no one would be commenting until the RCMP release further details about the incident.
The Sun was unable to reach Sonnenberg for comment at the cell number listed on his business card.
