Brandon’s Browns Socialhouse has closed.
The restaurant’s owner, Blake Trotter, confirmed the news at midday on Thursday, saying that the business had ceased operations that day.
"We both felt it was in the best interests of each other to go in a different direction," Trotter said of himself, as franchisee, and the franchise owner.
The restaurant is expected to undergo some renovations, and Trotter said that a new local restaurant would take its place by the end of the month.
The restaurant, located at 1260 18th St. across from the Keystone Centre, was only a couple years old and was built from the ground up.
Between part-time and full-time employees, Trotter said that the restaurant employed approximately 50 people.
Browns Socialhouse was touted as a hybrid between a neighbourhood pub and upscale casual dining restaurant.
Brandon’s location was Manitoba’s first Browns Socialhouse, although two have since opened in Winnipeg, with a third currently "coming soon" according to the company’s website.
