Two people were hit by vehicles in Brandon on Wednesday — one on a bicycle and another on foot.
The first incident happened at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the 2600 block of Willowdale Crescent. Brandon police Const. Myran Hamm said the person was riding on the sidewalk before they were struck. The driver was turning southbound onto 26th Street when they collided with the cyclist in the intersection.
The fact the person was riding on the sidewalk prior to being struck is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision, Hamm said.
The person had minor injuries, he said, including scrapes and bruising on his ankle. The man was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The second incident happened at approximately 2 p.m., when a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of McTavish Avenue and 18th Street. Officers responded to a report of a man on the ground in the intersection, Hamm said.
Police closed the intersection after the incident for a traffic analyst to complete an investigation.
On Wednesday afternoon, no charges had been laid, but Hamm said any charges would follow the investigation.
The pedestrian’s injuries were serious and he was taken to hospital, but Hamm said he did not have further information on the man’s condition.
