Police closed off the area surrounding a house on the corner of Second Street and Lorne Avenue Thursday afternoon while executing a search warrant for firearms.
Members of the Brandon Police Service tactical response unit cordoned off the 200 to 400 block of Second Street, including First Street and Lorne Avenue, asking the public to stay away from the area as officers were involved in a "high-risk incident."
Approximately two hours later, BPS announced on Twitter that the high-risk portion of the incident had concluded, but officers were still executing a firearms search warrant at a residence.
The warrant was related to two high-risk vehicle stops that occurred earlier Thursday morning, BPS said.
Several people were detained, but as of 5 p.m. on Thursday no charges had been laid, a police spokesperson said.
More details surrounding the incident are expected to be released today.
