Brandon police are still investigating after several women were allegedly drugged at a Brandon bar earlier this month.
On Friday, Brandon police public information officer Sgt. Kirby Sararas said police were still investigating the alleged Nov. 6 incident at Houstons nightclub.
On Nov. 9, two weeks ago, the Sun reported a petition was calling for improved safety measures following the alleged incident.
One woman, who believes her drink was spiked, told the Sun she felt her chest burning after taking a sip of her drink. She started feeling the effects in the washroom and felt like she was paralyzed.
The woman ended up in the hospital early Sunday morning, and an emergency room doctor told her several women may have been drugged, she said.
The Change.org petition, called "Safety for Others," amassed a total of 2,687 signatures.
Police are still investigating two allegations in the incident, Sararas said.
In response to the reports, Houstons nightclub manager Kelsey Bell previously told the Sun the bar has purchased drink lids, which will now be available for free at the bar for customers if they want one.
She said the bar is also helping police in the investigation.
