Pretty up Brandon
Maybe now that winter is here, our city can make Brandon look a little bit modern and nicer to drive into? All the dead and rotting trees along the river on First Street and 18th street could be cleared away to make Brandon a little more inviting. We’ve been trying to get this done for three years, but they either don’t get their mail or the supervisors can’t read? Maybe if more people wrote to their mayor and council, our Parks and Maintenance department might decide, there is something to do, besides drinking coffee at local restaurants.
Use your legs
I found Tyler Glen's column on drive-thrus interesting, but I have this observation — lineups in drive-thru lanes cause needless pollution. The extra exercise to park to walk in and out is good for you and may even save your time.
House arrest is a joke
I'm calling in on the article in the paper where someone broke into someone's house with an illegal weapon, a sawed off rifle, for robbery, break and enter. I can't imagine the terror and discomfort that the homeowner experienced. And the person charged get 12 months of house arrest, which is a joke. I know a couple people on house arrest and they come and go as they please. I know they don't have enough police to check on these people. That's why it's a joke. They need to be stuck away or something like that, so there's a bit of a deterrent.
Thanks for taking the time
We'd like to thank the person who found my husband's cane at the dollar store on 18th Street. Thanks so much for taking the time to turn it in.
