Kind of makes you wonder

Crony socialism is alive and well in Manitoba based on the article in the Brandon Sun which told the story of an NDP health minister who is now magically employed by the employees’ union that he formerly negotiated against. Kind of makes you wonder if he was working there all the time and now it is just out in the open.

The wife is at it again

It looks like my wife might have phoned in that Sound Off about moving the CPR tracks because recently she wanted to move the toilet over here and move the tub over there and put the sink where the tub was — you know, just like it was nothing! The CPR owns those tracks and they ain’t moving them. They came in here probably ahead of the city. And can you imagine the cost? They are not moving. We need to fix that bridge. Thanks for calling that one in, though!

The bridge is not the problem

Regarding the persistant problem of semi-trucks hitting Kemnay’s low bridge. The train bridge underpass is not low. It’s been that way for the past 100 years or so. It’s the semi-trucks that are too HIGH. The “professional drivers” are not being responsible and conscientious of knowing what clearances are available and necessary to proceed. It’s impossible to legislate for ignorance, lack of attention and plain stupidity.

No starting from the bottom here

We are all told that you have to work your way to the top. Not so for 18 persons who just stepped into top minister jobs in our government’s cabinet even though they have never even been an MP before! Will be interesting to see how they navigate parliament let alone run our country.

This is a terrible idea

Regarding the Sound Off from Nov. 5, “Is This What Manitobans Want To Look Forward To?” Research conducted on behalf of the Manitoba Livestock Manure Management Imitative has shown the virus responsible for PED is capable of surviving over Manitoba winters in earthen manure storages, writes Bruce Cochrane. And Manitoba wants to use huge, two-cell lagoons for storage of pig manure. Sorry, they are completely out of their minds!

A big thanks to all

Thank you to the program coordinator at Samaritan House food bank and to every volunteer who volunteers past and present we appreciate your every effort.

Not enough information

John Fefchak claims that there is a “better way to raise hogs for meat export,” but he isn’t saying how. What way would that be?

Hydro not the asset it used to be

Manitoba Hydro may never be privatized, but if the day comes when there is no choice but to do so, we can thank Premier Selinger for all his disastrous decisions on the Hydro file. Once an undisputed provincial asset, Hydro is far from it today. People such as Ed Schreyer know this, and have spoken up.
