Pipeline issues need to be addressed
Sure sounds as if Enbridge is not respected or the right company for doing pipeline installations, according to former federal environment minister David Anderson. He states inadequate behaviour and a multitude of leaks. I do not think it’s a general advantage to Canada. The majority of long-term jobs are in the refinery process. Once the lines are installed (should that eventually happen), the only Canadian jobs left will be cleaning up the pipeline leaks.
Thanks — you are lifesavers
On behalf of the campers at the Ag Society campground in Killarney, I would like to thank the Killarney firefighters and medics for their tremendous work for putting out the fires of three RVs and saving the lives of two campers at the campgrounds in the early morning hours of July 28. You were the heroes of the day. Without your prompt attendance, it would have been much worse.
House insurance tax a double whammy
I have read the Editor’s Notebook on Saturdays for years and quite enjoy it. I am angry about the response from Mr. Caldwell (NDP MLA Brandon East). He has tweeted his response to the Sun’s editor about this new NDP tax and sounds like a little sulking boy. I sent an email to Premier Greg Selinger and Finance Minister Stan Struthers voicing my distress regarding this absurd tax on July 12, and have heard not a word from either of them. No surprise here — maybe upset Manitobans will go away! Insurance is a necessity, not a frivolous purchase. I believe you can’t even get an approved CMHC mortgage without one. I feel sorry for young people who get a double whammy — paying this tax for registering their purchase at Land Titles and for buying house insurance. This is another broken campaign promise and a sad way for Mr. Caldwell’s government to pay for their financial mismanagement.
There’s a fly in my soup
I hate to see flies in restaurants and have noticed them in more than one outlet in Brandon in the past few days. It is a real turnoff.
Better things to be doing with my money
Why is it that the school division and the City of Brandon are cutting dead grass (dust)? Also why when there is a bylaw that says you are to cut grass on boulevards is the city cutting them? It is no wonder taxes are so high. Stop wasting my money.
The wonderful merry-go-round
Where did all those beautiful horses go? Anyone from 80 years and younger must remember the most popular ride and real life-like horses. Your parents let you choose. Now those precious horses have turned into wild scary animals — ears back and snarly. A young child is frightened to look at them — certainly not to ride. Does anyone agree with me?
